The 10 largest Internet service providers in Vietnam have reached a general agreement to put information on the common query system to not allow the debtor of this carrier to sign a new Internet contract with another carrier.
Signed carriers include Viettel, VNPT, MobiFone, FPT Telecom, SPT, CMC Telecom, HTC-ITC, Indochina Telecom, Netnam and VTC Digicom.
In the past time, there was a situation where users owed their fees and left the network, then signed a new contract with another provider. Therefore, this joint agreement is expected to help the market develop together.
According to the agreement, the information of a user who does not pay fees will be posted by the network operator to the system to store and support infringing customer queries. Based on this information, other ADSL/FTTH Internet access service providers can detect and refuse to contract the person.
In the telecommunications law, there is a provision that businesses are allowed to share information about subscribers who owe charges in order to collect or reduce bad debt subscribers.
The agreement is expected to ensure that service users strictly comply with the signed contract and regulations
The agreement will be tested from now until December 31, and is expected to ensure that service users seriously implement the signed contracts and regulations. This will help reduce the bad debt ratio of network operators, thereby having resources for them to improve the quality of transmission lines and add more value-added services.
After testing is over, carriers will participate in evaluation and modification for the official implementation.
