Starting with iOS 10, Apple has added to its iMessage messaging application a series of built-in effects when users send a message with certain content. For example, you might see a confetti effect on the screen when you send a message that says “Congratulation”.
Overall, this is a small but quite interesting addition. It helps the conversations become lively, less tedious. However, not everyone is interested in these hilarious effects. Some people even find it annoying and a waste of system resources.
If you belong to the latter group, follow the simple steps below to disable texting effects in your iMessage app.
To turn off these iMessage effects on iPhone/iPad you need:
Open the “ Settings ” app (grey gear icon) on your iOS device.
In the Settings menu, scroll down until you see “ Accessibility ”, tap it.
In Accessibility, scroll down again and tap on “ Motion ” under the “ Vision ” category.
Here, you will see an option called “ Auto-Play Message Effects ” that is on. Click the switch on the right to turn this option off (the switch is grayed out).
It’s all as simple as that! Now the iMessage effects on your iPhone have been disabled. To reactivate, just follow the same steps.
Note, however, that this setting will not automatically turn off iMessage effects completely on your device. Instead, it just prevents screen effects and bubble effects from automatically showing up so you can’t see them.
