The ability to edit and recall iMessage messages on iOS 16 will help you change the content of iMessage messages or even recover iMessage messages if you accidentally send them to others by mistake. Note, you will only have 2 minutes to undo sending and 15 minutes to edit iMessage. This feature doesn’t work with SMS text messages, which show up as green bubbles instead of blue ones. The feature only works if the recipient of the message has also upgraded to iOS 16.
Step 1:
You open iMessage on the phone then text as usual or select the iMessage message that the user wants to edit.
Press and hold and the iMessage message you want to edit , then display the options menu, then click Edit to change the message content.
Step 2:
Now display a frame for us to re-enter the content of the iMessage message . You re-enter the message content and then click the blue checkmark to save the changes and send iMessage messages as usual.
We can edit a message up to 5 times and have 15 minutes from sending it to change the content of our message.

We also open iMessage and then click on the message that the user wants to get the message back .
At the menu displayed, the user clicks on the Undo send item to recall the sent message. Undo send works for up to 2 minutes after sending a message.

Then a message will appear indicating that the message has been recovered as shown below.
In the iMessage interface, press and hold the conversation you want to mark as unread. In the list that displays the user click on the option Mark as unread .
Then iMessage messages will be marked as unread for users to know.
