An extremely slippery, nonstick and durable material toilet has been developed by Yike Li’s research group at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Wuhan, China). .
The new material of the Yike Li group attracts attention because in the past, many types of toilets with smooth surfaces have been created but the durability is not high, the quality decreases after a period of use.
Yike Li’s team created a model of the toilet by 3D printing that is about 10 times smaller than the real version. The material used is a mixture of resins and hydrophobic particles combined with a laser. The team then used a silicone oil to smooth the surface of the toilet bowl so that it penetrates below the surface thanks to a special material structure.
To test the smoothness and cleanliness of the toilet, the researchers used muddy water, milk, yogurt, honey, gel, starch and synthetic manure to pour into the toilet. The results showed that they did not stick to the toilet, not even a little.
The team added that the actual test showed that the toilet will still remain smooth even after using sandpaper more than 1,000 times. Thus, this new type of toilet will not be affected even if it is cleaned with a brush, so it will keep it clean and hygienic.
This super-slick toilet will help reduce water consumption per flush, the researchers say.
